  • Making a difference

For National Diabetes Week this year, I sat down with Katie from Beta Change and my good friend and champion advocate for young adults with type 2 diabetes, Lou, to chat about the importance of a timely diabetes diagnosis and what living with an invisible condition is like. These themes tie in closely with the Read more

  • Collaboration or sell out?

As I inch closer towards my thesis submission deadline, 24 hours in a day never seems like enough time. Sadly, my blog has taken a back seat because of this. I was going through my blog drafts and this was something I had written a few months ago. It never got published because I still Read more

  • What is a healthy lifestyle?

Often, people attribute a healthy lifestyle to good eating habits and regular physical activity. Yet we don’t always talk about managing our emotional health and learning about balance. Read more

I’m having one of those bad diabetes days. The days where have a jam-packed day filled only to have diabetes come and wipe you out. I hate those days because I spend so much effort trying to get back on track. Read more

Feet are weird. A few years ago, I decided that I will make more of an effort to look after my feet. Day in the life of…

Welcome to a day in my life. I’ve taken this idea from Dr.OfWhat who writes about her experience as a PhD student and provides study tips and advice. I thought this was a fabulous way to give people a glimpse of what I get up to during the day. So, this is a snapshot of my Read more

Welcome to my Bittersweet Diagnosis Blog

When I started this blog in 2011, I never thought it would be going over 10 years later. Writing is my way of reflecting and processing the world around me. Over time, I didn’t realise my stories resonated with others or helped them to learn more about living with diabetes. And so it is the power of sharing stories that keeps me going with this blog.

Initially, I named my blog “Bittersweet Diagnosis” as that is exactly how I feel about my diabetes. Learning to live with a chronic condition as intensive as diabetes has been one of the toughest challenges I’m still navigating. Yet along the way, diabetes has made me grow and develop into a better person, physically and mentally.
