Diabetes Blog Week, Day 7 – Continuing Connections

Day 7 of Diabetes Blog Week and I’m filled with mixed emotions. On one hand I have been loving the post prompts, especially since they all resonate with me to some level. On the flip side, it has been hard work keeping up with daily posts amid everything else. My favourite thing about Diabetes Blog Read more

Diabetes Blog Week, Day 6 – Favourites and Motivations

I don’t usually blog on weekends, so I almost forgot my day six entry for diabetes blog week. Almost. Today’s theme revolves around our favourite sentence of blog post we have written and/or motivation to start or keep writing a blog. There is potential that this post will become an essay but I’ll try and Read more

    Foods on Friday!

I’m impressed with myself for keeping up with Diabetes Blog Week this year. Today’s topic is around foods that we eat, which is apparently also what people are keen to hear from a dietitian. People often ask if there is a specific ‘diabetic diet’ that people with diabetes have to follow. Diet is a cringe Read more

  • Stop For Change

    Stop For Change

Day 4 of diabetes blog week and the topic we are on today is change. I’ve read and watched some amazing blogs in response to this topic and I’m not sure I do the topics I’m most passionate about eloquently into words. But I’ll try. Read more

  • Diabetes Hoarding

    Diabetes Hoarding

For some reason, there seem to be so many diabetes-related items that are super hoardable. Day 3 of Diabetes Blog Week and we’re talking about things we need to clear out from our diabetes closet. And there are many diabetes trinkets that I have collected or am still in the process of accumulating!  Read more

Diabetes Blog Week – Day 2: Keep It To Yourself.

Day two of Diabetes Blog Week and the theme is things we would keep to ourselves and perhaps not share with the online world or even family and friends. Thinking about this, I realised that the thing I hide most about myself are my feelings, particularly when I’m stressed or worried over something.  Read more

Welcome to my Bittersweet Diagnosis Blog

When I started this blog in 2011, I never thought it would be going over 10 years later. Writing is my way of reflecting and processing the world around me. Over time, I didn’t realise my stories resonated with others or helped them to learn more about living with diabetes. And so it is the power of sharing stories that keeps me going with this blog.

Initially, I named my blog “Bittersweet Diagnosis” as that is exactly how I feel about my diabetes. Learning to live with a chronic condition as intensive as diabetes has been one of the toughest challenges I’m still navigating. Yet along the way, diabetes has made me grow and develop into a better person, physically and mentally.
