Celebrating Small Victories
Perhaps it’s human nature for us to only notice the bad things in life. Bad things cause us pain. No one likes pain. But we don’t often celebrate the small victories we make along the way. The last few days I have had a few close calls with potential dia-catastrophes or annoyances, which made me appreciate Read more

Raising Awareness for Diabetes
National Diabetes Week is soon coming to a close. Our next big diabetes event is World Diabetes Day in November. Campaigns running for these events often draw mixed reactions. Some will happily share and contribute, while others will always find something to criticise. You can’t please everyone. Read more

I Wish People Knew That Diabetes is 24-7
Diabetes is relentless, as are many chronic diseases. It’s not just the fact that we live with it for the rest of our lives. But diabetes doesn’t give us a day off. You can do exactly the same thing on two days and get different results. Last night was an example. Read more

Welcome to my Bittersweet Diagnosis Blog
When I started this blog in 2011, I never thought it would be going over 10 years later. Writing is my way of reflecting and processing the world around me. Over time, I didn’t realise my stories resonated with others or helped them to learn more about living with diabetes. And so it is the power of sharing stories that keeps me going with this blog.
Initially, I named my blog “Bittersweet Diagnosis” as that is exactly how I feel about my diabetes. Learning to live with a chronic condition as intensive as diabetes has been one of the toughest challenges I’m still navigating. Yet along the way, diabetes has made me grow and develop into a better person, physically and mentally.
